ABOUT CONTRACT LABOUR MANAGEMENT
Employment of Contract labor provides flexible hiring options for employers and livelihood opportunities for the unemployed. The industrial scenario in our country has become more complex and competitive in the 21st century. Contract labor and business process outsourcing, once looked down upon, are now respected and vital in today's market economy. However, labor laws and enforcement methods have not kept pace with the requirements of a globally competitive Indian economy.
Ignorance of the law is not an excuse. Improper understanding of labor laws can lead to issues with law enforcement, prolonged litigation, fines, and even prosecution and imprisonment of managers and employers.
The employer is ultimately responsible for implementing labor laws. While most labor laws apply to regular employees, there are additional laws that hold the principal employer liable for compliance with labor laws concerning contract employees. Non-compliance with social security contributions from the wages of contract labor may result in the employer being liable for both the employer's and employee's contributions under social security laws. Therefore, proper understanding and timely implementation of all labor laws applicable to contract labor are in the organization's best interest.
Keeping this in mind BUSWAA is organized one-day workshop on ‘Managing Flexi Work Force’ - Legal aspects and challenges’.
